Passion is a sensation of deep love or a strong desire for, someone or something. Passion may

range from enthusiastic curiosity to enthusiasm for an idea. Like many of us we capture a

passion and make it our life. Similarly, Poize has found his passion, except he has one that is filled with music.

Widely known as Jermell Hinnant, at a glance, he is a young but accomplished Singer

and budding philanthropist with years of experience in Music.

As a small-town boy born in Wilson, North Carolina, on January 28th, 1994; he sought to

change the world through song. Recalling his early childhood as, “I grew up with two supportive parents and a younger brother. I grew up on Gardner street in Wilson, NC. Not a deadly area, but I would not call it safe either. I had to be in the house before it got dark. My mother was a teacher at the Elementary school that I attended, and my father was a brick mason. I went to school during the week, and sometimes on the weekends I would go to work with my dad. I was pretty much a nerd

growing up. I stayed to myself, my books, and my family. I grew up around a lot of girls because my mom loved to do hair. “

Then later expounding that his curiosity and love for music was fostered through the inability to

express himself, “ Music has always been a passion of mine. Singing mostly when it comes to the music portion. Writing poetry is also a passion. I have been through and seen a lot of things in my life that have stuck with me and I have a lot of stories to tell. I started off just writing poetry. Then, I ended up combining my two passion in to one and became an R&B singer. My favorite neo-soul artist “Maxwell” had a concert in Virginia that I went to and it also inspired me. My favorite song by him, “Lifetime” was described by him at this concert as he explained his story. Which also inspired me to tell my stories on a bigger scale. “

Poize’s optimistic perspective on life’s challenges has enhanced his creative depth for each of

his passions. Of all his crafts, Poize is especially proud of his plans for intensive activism

and wealth generation; setting his sights on social inequality and poverty eradication through art.

More than an artist, his humanitarian role continues to expand with his influence through his

music. Poize can be seen as a living embodiment of a free soul. His life’s achievements and

craft continuously display his eccentric sense of self while embracing his emotions.

He intends to use his life story and platform to encourage others to love themselves and those that are close to them.

Poize focused his energies and resources on honing his vocal and songwriting talents. This

effort gave birth to a small insightful catalog of musical gems including, Nocturnal and Minute,

garnering more than four thousand monthly listeners on Spotify.

But citing his favorite achievements when asked to list them, he stated, “I haven’t really achieved much in music yet because I am getting started. I was ranked #2 in the “Culture Countdown” on a radio (Hot 97.9) station for 2 weeks straight in Raleigh, NC. I have a bachelor’s degree. I served in the military for 6 years and received 2 Army Commendation medals.”

Poize’s fascination with social ills and art aligns with his passion for filling

the world with positivity. He believes in making this contribution though philanthropy and song.

His long-term goal is to become a national-level human rights advocate and a world recognized

musician. He wants to use his untiring commitment to bring more dignity and autonomy to

victims of inequality and hardship. With his platform, he intends to broaden and intensify the national efforts towards the betterment of members in impoverished communities affected by trauma.

Recently discussing his interest in an interview he said, “The AMTA (American Music Therapy Association) I am amazed at the clinical use of Musical therapy. It is a healing factor that many do not realize. The genre depends on the person, and the situation. It is a cause that I strongly believe in.”

There is more in-store from Malachi apart from his love of humanity and performing. In an

interview he teased new content.

I just released “Nocturnal” in June 2020. The music video is on the way. My next song to drop is called “MEG”. I am redoing my debut single “Minute”, and My EP will debut sometime near the beginning of the year.

The world needs more individuals like Poize, individuals that respect and devote themselves

their creative process.

With his ability to surprise we doubt that this will be the last time we hear from him.
